Work Type | Description |

Accessory Apartment | A second dwelling unit either within or added to a single-family detached dwelling, or in a separate accessory structure on the same lot as the principal dwelling that functions as a complete, independent living facility with provisions for cooking, eating, sanitation, and sleeping. |
Accessory Structure | A structure which is on the same parcel of property as a principal structure and the use of which is incidental to the use of the principal structure. |
Addition - Commercial | Improving or increasing the square footage of an existing commercial space. Additions to any building or structure shall comply with building requirements of County Code for new construction. |
Addition - Single Family Dwelling | Improving or increasing the square footage of an existing residential structure. Additions to any building or structure shall comply with building requirements of County Code for new construction. |
Alteration - Commercial | Altering in any way the existing structure of a commercial building including demolition, addition, or renovation (including tenant fit out) of the structure. Alterations to an existing building or structure shall be built in accordance with County Building Codes. |
Basement Finishing | Interior improvements made to convert a basement into a living area. |
Basement Waterproofing | Procedure used to reduce water penetrating a basement of a structure. Waterproofing involves the application of materials and/or sealants; installation of drains and possibly a sump pump to collect, remove and/or redirect water away from a basement. |
Building - Commercial New | New construction of a structure to be used as a business. |
Bulkhead - Commercial | A seawall or riprap revetment constructed along shorelines to control beach erosion. Construction materials commonly used include wood pilings, commercially developed vinyl products, large boulders stacked to form a wall, or a seawall built of concrete or another hard substance. |

Carport | A structure open on at least two sides. Carport floor surfaces shall be of approved noncombustible material. Carports not open on at least two sides shall be considered a garage and shall comply with the provisions for garages. |
Cellular Antenna | A device used for transmitting, receiving, and supporting cellular telecommunications or personal communications service. |
Cellular Tower | A tower constructed for or an existing structure that has been adapted for the location of transmission antennae or related equipment to be used in the provision of cellular telecommunications services or personal communications services. |
Connect to Water and or Sewer | Connecting to public or private water and/or sewer. |
Deck - Commercial | A raised level platform or floor with no roof or walls that is typically (but not always) attached to a structure and creates usable, outdoor space. |

Fence | An outdoor structure serving as an enclosure, a barrier, or a boundary, usually made of wood posts and stakes or chain/wire. |
Garage | An addition and/or accessory to a single-family dwelling for housing a motor vehicle or vehicles. |
Gazebo / Pergola | A gazebo is a pavilion structure, sometimes octagonal or turret-shaped, usually free- standing. A pergola is a structural archway. |
Hot Tub / Spa | A small pool full of heated water used for hydrotherapy, relaxation, or pleasure (also referred to as a spa) designed to be used by more than one person at a time. Hot tubs are usually located outdoors, although they can be installed indoors. |
Interior Alteration - Commercial | Altering in any way the interior space of a structure which includes demolition, addition, improvement or renovation of the structure. Interior alterations shall be built in accordance with County Building Codes. |

Pier - Commercial | A raised structure typically supported by pilings that allows tides and currents to flow relatively unhindered. |

Pool - Commercial | A swimming pool available for public use. Operations and maintenance are provided by a private management company. |

Porch | A porch is usually attached to a house and is considered an addition to a primary structure. |
Retaining Wall | Engineered walls designed to stabilize soil, earth on steep or unstable slopes. |
Rip Rap | Rock or other material used to protect shorelines against damaging wave action and help prevent erosion. |
Roof | The structure forming the upper covering of a building. |
Shed | Typically a simple, one level roofed structure used for outside storage. |
Signs | Any writing, letter, or numeric work, pictorial presentation, illustration or decoration, emblem, device, symbol, trademark, flag, banner, pennant, or any other device, figure, or character utilized to advertise, announce, identify, or make known or attract attention. |
Single Family Home - New / Rebuild | New building or demolition of existing and replacement of single family dwelling. |
Solar - Commercial | Solar cells are devices that convert light into electricity. A solar panel is a collection of solar cells. Commercial Solar is produced for resale. |

Tent - Commercial | Temporary shelter structure used for special events, fairs, weddings, etc. |
Trailer - Commercial | A structure (trailer) used to accommodate temporary offices during the construction of new home development. Typically, trailers are equipped with telephone lines and electrical power. |
Use of Existing Commercial Space with No Modifications | Occupying a commercial space for a business or profit-making venture without new construction or demolition. |
Vegetation Removal - Critical Area | The removal of any vegetation or cutting trees within the Critical Area. |
Vegetation Removal - Non-Critical Area | The removal of any vegetation or cutting trees outside of the Critical Area. Applies for removing trees with stumps or more than 20 trees; disturbing an area 5,000 square feet or greater; or projects exceeding a cut and fill volume of 100 cubic yards on property not located in the Critical Area. |
Waterfront Steps | Outdoor steps constructed to provide access to shoreline. Waterfront properties are entitled to a single 4' wide waterfront access. |
Whitebox | An unimproved space within a commercial building for future tenant use. |
