Calvert County was granted a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) Phase II permit on October 31, 2018. The MS4 permit requires Calvert County to meet six Minimum Control Measures (MCM) including: Public Education & Outreach, Public Involvement/Participation, Illicit Discharge Detection & Elimination (IDDE), Construction Site Runoff Control, Post-Construction Runoff Control and Pollution Prevention/Good Housekeeping for Municipal Operations. As part of the IDDE MCM, the County must adopt an ordinance that allows for the screening. testing, correcting, and fining of illicit discharges into storm drain systems.

The Board of County Commissioners of Calvert County will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Northeast Community Center, 4075 Gordon Stinnett Avenue, Chesapeake Beach, Maryland 20732, for the purpose of receiving testimony from the public on the Petition of Highlands Homeowners Association, Inc. (HHOA) to establish a new Special Taxing District beginning Fiscal Year 2023.
