Board of Appeals Hearing

Thursday, January 4, 2024


The Calvert County Board of Appeals has scheduled the following cases for public hearing on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024. The hearing will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. at the Board of County Commissioners’ Hearing Room, Circuit Courthouse, 2nd Floor, 175 Main Street, Prince Frederick, MD 20678. The public may attend in person, via ZOOM videoconference, or by dialing 301-715-8592 and entering meeting ID 880 2031 7032. If prompted for a participant ID or password, press #.

Register in advance to join this meeting via ZOOM. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Those who submit written correspondence or verbal testimony shall be considered a party of interest.

Scheduled Cases begin at 9:00 a.m. with a tentative lunch break from 12:00-1:00 p.m.: 

  • Case 23-4174: Continued from November 2, 2023, with modifications to original request. David and Christina Clark have applied for a Variance to reduce the side setback from 10’ to 3.5’ to construct a 30’ x 32’ attached garage (previous request was to reduce the side setback from 10’ to 1’ to construct a 32’ x 32’ attached garage). The subject property, 3730 Winding Oak Way, Port Republic (Tax Map 31, Parcel 480, Lot 9 of Willow Oaks subdivision), is zoned Farm and Forest District (FFD). 
  • Case 23-4175: Continued from December 7, 2023. Anthony Olekson of CAO Barrett, LLC, on behalf of property owner Solomons Marina, LLC, has applied for a Variance to exceed the permissible height of 36’ by 5’ for a maximum height of 41’ to construct a 40' x 60' pre-engineered metal building with a 6/12 pitch roof. The subject property, 255 Alexander Lane, Solomons (Tax Map 46A, Parcel 4), is zoned Solomons Town Center Sub-Area C7/Critical Area/ Intensely Developed Area (TC-C7/CA/IDA). 
  • Case 23-4178: David & Melba Thomas have applied for a variance to reduce the side setback from 30’ to 4’ to construct a 24’ x 28’ pole barn garage. The subject property, 6380 Dant Drive, Owings (Tax Map 10, Parcel 238, Lot 9 of Mill Branch Estates), is zoned Rural Community District (RCD). 
  • Case 23-4179: Anthony Olekson of COA Barrett, LLC, on behalf of property owner Bargo, LLC, has applied for two Variances for the removal of 59 specimen trees and the removal of one monument tree in a vegetated buffer. The subject property, 455 Fox Run Boulevard, Prince Frederick (Tax Map 24, Parcels 6, 359, 360, 496, and 566), is zoned Town Center (TC) District
