Ethics Commission
Overview
The Calvert County Commissioners recognize that our system of representative government is dependent in part on the people maintaining the highest trust in county officials and employees. The people have a right to be assured that the impartiality and independent judgment of county officials and employees will be maintained and that this confidence and trust is eroded when the conduct of the county’s business is subject to improper influence or even the appearance of improper influence.
The Calvert County Ethics Commission:
- Was created by the Calvert County Board of Commissioners
- Administers the Calvert County Public Ethics Law
- Provides ethics training and advice to county employees
- Reviews annual Financial Disclosure Statements
- Reviews lobbying Financial Disclosure Statements and Activity Reports
- Conducts inquiries into alleged violations of the Calvert County Ethics Law
Ethics is about actions. It is about what we do. Remember, ethics is not about rhetoric. It is not about what we say, or what we intend. It is not just written code or a framed credo. If you have any doubt about your actions, please contact the County Ethics Commission and ask for advice first.
