Para Transit Services / ADA
Para Transit Services
There are four demand response routes for our para transit services that operate Monday through Friday within the county;
- One between Prince Frederick and destinations to the north
- One between Prince Frederick and destinations to the south
- One with the North Beach and Chesapeake Beach, Owings area
Our Para-transit service is for qualifying elderly and individuals with disabilities.
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), Calvert County Public Transportation provides para transit service to persons determined as ADA para transit eligible for those trips that cannot be made using the county bus service. This service is provided during the same days/hours as the fixed routes to individuals who, because of a disability, are prevented from using our standard bus service. ADA Paratransit basic service provides curb-to-curb transportation to disabled citizens. On an individual, case-by-case basis, Calvert County Public Transportation will assist riders beyond the curb when riders need such assistance to travel from their origin to their destination.
Calvert County will make reasonable accommodations upon request.
Application Process and Information

Applications can be mailed to Calvert County Public Transportation, 175 Main Street, Prince Frederick, MD 20678. Completed applications will be reviewed and processed within 21 business days of receipt. You will be notified in writing of your eligibility for ADA service. If you have not heard from us in 21 business days, please contact our office and we will provide you with service until your application is processed. Please note that in some instances, we may not be able to determine your eligibility without further information. Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant to be completed and resubmitted. Once returned, completed the applications will go through the review process. View our Helpful Rider's Tips (PDF) for more information.
If it is determined that you are not eligible for the ADA Para Transit service, we will notify you in writing of the exact reasons for this determination. If you would like to appeal that decision the applicant has 60 days to file a written appeal with CCPT, with the decision to be made by the CCPT Services Supervisor. Written appeals should be mailed to CCPT, 175 Main Street, Prince Frederick, MD 20678. The Transportation Supervisor has 30 days from the date of the appeal to render a decision. If a decision is not reached within 30 days, the applicant will be presumed eligible until a decision has been reached.
ADA para-transit eligible individuals visiting from other localities outside of Calvert County will also be served when eligible trips are requested. The visiting individual's local certification will be honored by Calvert County Public Transportation. If a visitor does not have ADA certification from another jurisdiction, but makes a claim of eligibility, that claim will be honored as required by the ADA. However, in such cases, Calvert County Public Transportation reserves the right to require proof that the individual is not a resident of the county, and if the individual has a disability which is not apparent. If the visitor is planning on staying in the Calvert County area more than 21 days, he or she needs to formally apply for eligibility certification.
The cost of ADA / paratransit service is $2 per ride, one way. Please be sure to have your money ready when you get on the bus.
