Comprehensive Plan Update and Zoning Ordinance Rewrite
We are planning for the future!
We have embarked on a process to plan the future of Calvert County. From transportation, economic development and public safety to recreation, natural resources and housing – we want to know your vision for our future.
Updates to the Calvert County Zoning Ordinance and Official Zoning Maps are Underway.
The ordinance rewrite and map revisions are being completed following the adoption of the Calvert County Comprehensive Plan. As required by the State Land Use Law, the ordinance must be consistent with the adopted comprehensive plan. Additionally, the ordinance is being reorganized and reformatted to be more user friendly for citizens to look up the county’s zoning regulations. Ordinance chapters are being combined for ease in finding information. Keep watching this webpage for updates including schedules for citizen participation to provide input on the draft ordinance and map.

The Calvert County Board of County Commissioners voted on August 6, 2019, to adopt the July 23, 2019, Draft of the Calvert County Comprehensive Plan with amendments. The plan replaces the Comprehensive Plan adopted in 2004 and as amended in 2010.
The Calvert County Comprehensive Plan is a foundational policy document that sets forth a vision of the county’s future. The plan serves as a guide for future planning to be implemented through local laws and public investments over the next 20 to 25 years.
