Early Voting and Vote by Mail

Notice:

In accordance with Maryland state law (HB1048 and SB683) mail-in ballot application forms will be sent to all voters for the upcoming 2022 election. Mail-in ballot application forms for the primary election will be sent out first to registered Democrats and registered Republicans. 

Voters registered with other political parties and unaffiliated voters will receive a request form later if there is a primary election in their school board district. Then, application forms will be sent after the primary election for all other registered voters.

Note: Please do not fill out and return the form if you plan on voting in person.

Important Dates

  • 2022 Primary Election: Tuesday, July 19, 2022
  • 2022 Primary Election Early Voting: July 7, 2022 through July 14, 2022 (includes Saturday and Sunday)
  • 2022 General Election: Tuesday, November 8, 2022
  • 2022 General Election Early Voting: Thursday, October 27, 2022 through Thursday, November 3, 2022 (includes Saturday and Sunday)

Voting hours are 7 a.m.-8 p.m. for each day of Early Voting. For more information, visit the State of Maryland’s Board of Elections website.


Vote by Mail

In order to vote by mail, you must apply before every election cycle. 

Maryland offers voting by mail for any eligible registered voter, including for Overseas and Military Voters.

Primary Vote By Mail Deadlines
July 12, 2022 - For a ballot to be mailed to you. the application must be received (not just postmarked) in our office by July 12, 2022. 
July 15, 2022 - For a ballot to be sent via internet, the application must be received (not just postmarked) in our office by July 15, 2022.

About ballot drop off locations

You can return your ballot by mail. Or you can drop it off in person at one of the drop off locations in your county. Use this sheet to find the closest drop off location. 

Ballot drop off boxes are secure 
Ballot drop off boxes are very secure. No one has access to the drop off boxes except for trusted election officials. Ballots are picked up from the boxes every day by election officials. The drop off boxes are not the property of the United States Postal Service. If you have questions, contact your local election office. 

Before you return your ballot 
Make sure that the return envelope for your ballot is sealed and that the oath is signed before returning it.
