Architectural Review Committee - Solomons Town Center
Overview
The committee reviews exterior design features of new construction and renovation as well as signs within the Town Center (TC) in accordance with appearance standards and guidelines specified by the Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance. They promote awareness of good design within the community and advise the county on matters relating to appearance or design within the TC. The committee also reviews the Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance and makes recommendations to the Planning Commission or Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).
Composition
The committee shall be composed of five members. Priority shall be given to the appointment of members who reside or work within the TC. All members shall either work, reside, or represent an institution within the Calvert County postal area of the TC.
There shall be five members appointed by the BOCC:
At least one member shall have experience in architecture, landscape architecture, historic preservation, urban design, planning, engineering, or related fields.
At least one member shall be an owner of a business located within the TC.
At least one member shall be a resident who is not connected with a business within the TC.
Priority shall be given to the appointment of members who reside or work within the Town Center. Exceptions in the criteria may be made by the BOCC in the event there are not enough qualifying applicants. The term of each member shall be four years.
