Substance abuse impacts a community's safety and well-being when people drive while under the influence and by increased crime associated with illegal drug activity.

The following objectives are aimed at promoting public safety in the community:
  • Better communication between agencies
  • Closer regulation of bars and liquor stores
  • Closer supervision of probationers
  • Enlist and encourage participation of students in war on drugs
  • Equipment
  • Gain a greater understanding of the magnitude of the problems in the schools
  • Increase jail capacity
  • Increase merchant responsibility
  • Increased manpower
  • Institute Neighborhood Watch programs
  • Mandatory urinalysis program
  • Maximum use of the forfeiture statutes
  • More involvement by other court agencies
  • More police involvement
  • Seek tougher sentences
  • Streamline the system
  • Use of alternative sentences

  • National Night Out Program
  • Neighborhood Watch Program - The Calvert County Neighborhood Watch Program meets at 6:30 pm at the Holiday Inn Express in Prince Frederick on the second Monday of every other month: January, March, May, July , September and November
